3 Key Tools for Success: How I Overcame and Thrived - Part 1

Let me tell you that things are starting to change for the better. I am super excited, like a dog that is so excited to see you that he is jumping all over you. I have 3 key tools this week because a lot happened in the last week that I changed because of all of these things. So, yes, you don't have to worry about me getting the 5 promised posts done.

I would say that I started by increasing my water intake. But that one is hard to decide if it helped me. So, I read a book and listened to a podcast about water intake. What surprised me the most was that if you start your day with a glass of water you may become alert faster. And no, I did not give up coffee. But I trust the experts and continue to drink the water first. I did notice on the days, I drank only half a cup of coffee. Now, I know that isn't enough to make a quantitative decision on whether it is already working. But I will keep trying it to see how it goes over the long run. And yes, I will let you know how it goes. I wouldn't leave you hanging.

One other thing about my attempt to increase my water intake that I just thought of was that I experimented with different glasses and water bottles. In the early morning, I like to drink just from a glass. It's easier to fill a glass so that I know that I got a glass full done right away. However, I have noticed that having a water bottle with the ounces on it is better for the rest of the day because it is easy to see how far I have left throughout the day.

Oh, another thought I just remembered was that you can add fruit like strawberries to your water to give it a pleasant taste without all the sugar and it helped me when I overcame the kind of boringness of plain water.

Okay, I am finally ready to do the second item I learned the past week. I am going to pick my gratitude practice. You know that I have mentioned gratitude numerous times. You can find one of them here. But this week, I did it a little differently. I thought about all those journal prompts I gave out and how I could use them for my gratitude practice. I came to consider different prompts, especially for gratitude. For example, "What did I do that I can be grateful for that I did today?" Now I think that is an incredible way to rethink your day and be grateful for the stuff you did. Isn't that incredible? I couldn't help but enjoy it. But I am the wannabe positivity expert. You probably know by now that I love learning new things. In having this new type of gratitude journaling I overcame a few preconceived notions about gratitude journaling and how I did it.

Now, on to the third thing on my list to share. This past week, I experimented with music more than I ever have. I started by waking up with acoustic and piano ballads. Which I truly love, but I just relaxed instead of getting toward accomplishing my goals. I did however find upbeat music that I wanted to dance to or at least hum the tune loudly. Sadly, I am no longer a virtuoso, so I didn't sing. My son thinks I am horrendous at keeping a tune. And I have to admit it is terrible. hahaha.

After, experimenting with the morning, I noticed that the opposite was true with the evening. I didn't want something that would make me want to dance, though I like to do that. It was nice to pick the piano ballads at night. I also love Teravibe on YouTube. She has amazing ambiences. But her music and birdsong are what draw me there. Now I don't know her but I would say that her creative genius can relax me.

Another amazing thing that helps me relax is affirmations set to music. I like them during the afternoon slump too. They uplift me, and the music calms the frustration of being worn out. It helped me overcome my level of frustration in those periods. I can't tell you how big a game-changer it was. Oh, don't forget to drink a glass of water while listening.

I wasn't doing three this time, but I felt they fit nicely into the first post. But don't worry I have plenty of things to do for the next four. I think you will be pleased.

If you want to ask questions about these three, add them to the comments below.

Now go. Be safe. Know that you are not alone.
